The two Sides of Watering
Under Watering
When your plants need water, they will communicate that to you. Like a dog that will let you know when it needs to go out, It's the OWNERS RESPONSIBILITY to watch for these signs. Lets face it folks, Even the best dog will pee on the carpet if you don't let it out in time. My dog Chaco, he will pee on my foot to drive his point home. A plant won't pee on your foot, instead it will wilt to show you that it can't stay pretty for you if you continue to neglect it's needs. and if the neglect is prolonged then it will go into a state of shock and weaken then die. Kind of like what would happen to us humans or your buddy, the dog under the same circumstances. Under watering WILL void any guarantee given on plant material. That is why if you don't have an irrigation system in your yard to properly control the right amount of water, and the right time to water in the season, we at Sadree Landscape Design WILL NOT GUARANTEE any plant material without one. Shop this around and one will see that neither will any one else. Water is crucial in the development of root structure and integrity, and the over all life span of the plant. Sprinkler systems are not cheap. If you are considering a new landscape that will include lots of plants and grass, but don't have a sprinkler system, consider this: Maybe you should spend your budget on a sprinkler system this year and plant and sod next year.
Over Watering
This is very common. I see it more often than under watering. A client will tell me "but I water all the time!" Yes, I understand that you mean well, but all the best intentions in the world cannot replace the science that makes a life form tick. To insure proper care for ones investment, one needs to learn the science. No time for science...Then lets talk stone and patios, walkways, huge mulch beds, water features (that require some care, but less than plant life), etc... Things that require little to no care. Plants, sod, palms and other trees need proper care. Over watering will expose the plant to leaf damage that will lead to disease, fungus, and root rot, etc.. Now throw in the weak condition of the plant you are trying to rescue into the equation and one will see this too is a recipe for doom. Balance in the key.
If you have too much going on to learn and do
the necessary things that will insure the proper environment for
your new investment, Please let me know this.
I can and will leave you with some options that will improve curb appeal
and not need all of your time maintaining it. We are here to
educate you in any part of the science you will need to insure proper care,
but ultimately it is up to you the HOMEOWNER to guarantee the well
health of any plant purchase you make.
